Baked beans recipes to suit everyone’s schedule:

Baked beans, molasses baked beans, Boston baked beans…they’re all the same sort of thing in my old cookbooks.

Traditional baked beans take a day to make. Put the beans on to soak before bed, parboil them in the morning and then bake them in the oven for six hours or so. It you’re puttering at home all day this recipe is actually more convenient than it may sound. Plus it helps to keep the kitchen cozy.

This old fashioned method is still my favourite when it comes to getting just the texture I want with my beans.

Fortunately baked beans don’t have to be an all-day affair. The instant pot and crock pot recipes below offer alternatives for those who don’t have the time or inclination to make them the traditional way.
