Golden Delicious Apple Pie
Made for the days when you come home with more apples than you know what to do with. This pie pairs the quintessential flavours for fall – highlighted with the sweetness of fresh apples, and letting molasses do what it does best – adding a deep, rounded warmth underneath it all. Bring it home from the orchard, or just the grocery store; either way, it’s worth the extra stop.
Ingredients
• 4 cups diced apples • 1/2 cup sugar • 2 tbsp + 2 tsp flour • 1/2 tsp cinnamon • 1/4 cup Crosby’s Fancy Molasses • 1 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter • Pastry for one 9-inch, 2-crust pie
Instructions
1. Prepare a pastry-lined pie plate. Mix the apples with the sugar, flour, and cinnamon, then add to the pie. 2. Drizzle 1/4 cup of @crosbysmolasses over the filling and dot with butter. 3. Cover and decorate with the top pastry crust and bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, then reduce to 375°F and bake for another 30 minutes. (✨ Tip: Loosely cover the edges of the pie with aluminum foil for the first 20 minutes of baking to prevent the crust from browning too quickly. Remove the foil for the remaining bake time so the crust can turn golden.) 4. Let it cool for 2-4 hours to let the filling set. Slice and enjoy!
