This apple crisp recipe gets an extra boost of flavour from a handful of fresh cranberries and a touch of molasses. It’s lovely too, studded with bits of red.

Ingredients

Filling:

  • 56 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup cranberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup Crosby’s Fancy Molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter for dabbing

Topping:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

Instructions

For the filling:

  1. Place the apples and cranberries in a medium casserole dish.
  2. Pour over the molasses, sprinkle with cinnamon and dab with the butter.

For the topping:

  1. Combine the flour, rolled oats and brown sugar.
  2. Add butter and mix together into a crumble.
  3. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.
  4. Bake at 375 F for 35-45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Serve hot or warm.
