Baking with apples, one if my favourite fall traditions.
It’s easy enough to fit apples into recipes any time of the year (especially applesauce) but there is something about the smell of a basket of apples on the counter in September that sets me on a mission to bake fall favourites like Apple Gingerbread and Apple Dumplings.
I’m not the only one who craves apple recipes come September. We put together this cookbook devoted to apples when we realised how popular apple recipes were on our website, especially as the days got shorter and the air cooled.
We have a few apples still ripening on our skinny little deer-ravaged apple trees in our back yard. One tree is called Green Sleeves, an apple variety developed in England in the 1960s. The other tree in our yard is Freedom, developed in the States in the early 1980s. It’s prized for being disease resistant, although it isn’t deer resistant. Still our meagre harvest is a source of pride.
In this collection of apple recipes you’ll find a dozen of our favourites. These are everyday recipes that are satisfying and wholesome and are sure to make your house smell delicious.
These are the recipes you’ll enjoy in our Baking with Apples eBook:
